Introduction to Wild Swimming Workshops

6 hrs

Designed for new wild swimmers as well as those who’ve already started but would like more knowledge to extend their wild swimming journey safely.

In this 6 hour workshop we will cover:

• The benefits of wild swimming;
• Where to swim and the different types of swim locations and experiences;
• Common myths and misconceptions about wild swimming;
• How to swim safely including how to identify and assess risks;
• Environmental considerations of outdoor swimming;
• Equipment. What are you likely to need (or not) to enjoy your dip.

This session isn’t about how to swim fast or far, it’s about how to enjoy the water in the way that’s right for you. Whilst there is a structure to the session there will be lots of opportunity to discuss and ask questions within the group.

Who knows, this workshop could give you the knowledge you need to enter a swim challenge or dip in that waterfall you’ve had your eye on.

Peak Swims workshops involve classroom time to go through some theory followed by a swim to put everything we’ve learned into practice. Having an indoor space to be based from means we can share lots more information on equipment, skills and safety without worrying about what the weather's doing. It also gives us a warm dry space to come back to for a brew afterwards. The workshops include lots of opportunity to chat and share experiences, they're very informal and small with a maximum of 6 participants. Refreshments, cake and take home resources included, you’ll just need to bring a packed lunch. If you have any questions or would like a bespoke workshop developing just drop me a message on suzie@peakswims.co.uk
